We commence each project by contacting you by telephone or email, discussing your ideas and requirements. This is then followed up with a visit from me, with my suggestions and a variety of wood samples suitable for your piece. Consideration will be given to the type of woods already used in your house, (if any), and the predominant colour scheme.
We will also take measurements. A further visit will provide sketched ideas or scaled drawings and an estimate of costs.We try to design and construct with flair and flexibility allowing for design changes as and when necessary. For the more complex designs a simple prototype using cheaper veneers and man-made boards (MDF, Ply) may be required. This sample will allow us to check how the final piece will blend into its environment. (As the furniture is custom built, drawings can only offer a small insight).
We work primarily with Oak, Ash, Cherry, Elm, Pine, London Plane, Sycamore and Walnut. However we are not restricted to these if the customer has a preferred alternative.
