Slimbridge restaurant management...

For the past two years or more we have been using Chris to carry out carpentry work on various aspects of WWT restaurant Slimbridge. Chris always gave valid contributions as to the planning and devising of work to be carried out, which reassured us that we could trust his expertise. Not only was he competitive with his rates, he kept to deadlines and worked with great clarity and above all, precision.

Chris has done a range of projects for me in my 300 year-old cottage. He started with a full consultation and understanding of what I was looking for, and made sure I was happy at all stages throughout. On every one he has more than exceeded my expectations: Chris has created a beautiful window seat in ash, two bespoke sets of kitchen and book shelving, some shelving in my main bedroom, and a stunning shelf of waney-edge wood inspired by the vision of an African savanna tree. This is the most stunning piece of work that has drawn comments from everyone - it is the stuff of legend. Chris puts his heart and soul into every job, and that is reflected in his creations. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone, and I am SO glad I found him!! Thank you Chris, you have helped transform my house into my home! "Having searched in vain, for two years, to find someone to make us a display cabinet for a treasured collection of seashells, we finally stumbled upon Chris. A visit to his workshop quickly convinced us of his genuine knowledge and love of wood. He produced a cabinet precisely as we described it to him. Convinced that he was the right person, we then had him design and install a full suite of built-in furniture in an awkwardly shaped, attic bedroom, in a Georgian listed building. The task was far from easy, but the finished product was of high quality; practical, innovative and greatly enhancing the appearance and functionality of the room. We asked for something in the Art Nouveau style and that is exactly what we got. The work has been repeatedly admired by family, friends and neighbours. We felt entirely happy for Chris to have his own set of keys to the property, so that he could come and go as required. His communications were impeccable and he was always tidy and careful. Provided he has recovered from banging his head on the low oak beams in our attic, we’d love to have him back to tackle future projects."

Tom & Dympna, Stroud

Chris has crafted several pieces of furniture for us over the last couple of years.   WE really like his latest addition:  a space to hide our television when not in use with drawers and doors below and shelves above.  The shelves are slices of elm tree glossed up to perfection with the bark on the outer side facing the room.  He made our mantle above the fireplace with the same type of wood (elm) but kept the gnarled bark on which he applied a lacquer which gives it a protective gloss and highlights the swirling grain of the wood.  Just beautiful. He is meticulous in everything he does:   wardrobes, cupboards, shoe storage and shelving - all of them elegantly crafted.  His knowledge of wood is excellent.  His love of wood is obvious.
